The family at John Bunyan Baptist Church was devastated to hear of the destruction of Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.
As a church family, we have many connections with Jamaica, both with family and friends who live there, and with our brother Revd Karl Johnson, President of the Baptist World Alliance and pastor of one of the leading churches in Jamaica - Phillippo Baptist Church.
We have since discovered that the situation in Jamaica is getting worse, with the death toll rising, and the impact of the hurricane is even more devastating than initially anticipated.

As a church family, we felt that we wanted to support the people of Jamaica with a relief fund.
The fund will be sent to "Food for the Poor Jamaica" (FFPJ).
FFPJ is in relationship with organisations such as the Jamaican Baptist Union and the Government. It is the largest charity organisation in Jamaica, working with over 1,300 churches and institutions for the distribution of food, medicine, and educational supplies; it also works in the areas of housing and agriculture.
As we understand it, for now, priority is being given to the starving and the homeless of Jamaica.
